Dumping Ground for Random Thoughts

I had no creativity today in the photography arena.  So, you’ll be treated to a photograph I took last month in Disney.

Sometimes you don’t know you got a decent shot until after you view them on the computer screen.  I took a series of photographs of the fireworks show at Disney’s Epcot.  Reviewing the shots at the end of the show, it looked like they were all throwaway shots.  However, once I looked at this one on the computer screen after uploading them, I realized not all was lost.

This shot was taken at the end of the show.  As I zoomed out to get as much of the fireworks in the shot, the gentleman standing next to me ended up in the shot.  Being out of focus and in a silhouette, it came out as a great artistic shot.

No matter how you look at it, Old Glory still looks good.

Sometimes the shots just happen. As the sun rose through the southern sky, the shadows that moved across my desk put everything in a different light. (pun intended)

Today’s theme…warmth! This was the site around our house today as we are experiencing our coldest weather of the winter. With freeze warnings for today and the next three mornings, this is unseasonably cold for South Florida. Rather than turn up the heat (and our eletric bills), we “light up” around here … candles, that is!

Yesterday was the wedding of a longtime family friend. I had the pleasure of knowing this young man since high school. Our grandson was tagged to be the ring bearer for the ceremony, and got a little bit bored. I snapped this photograph before he was to go down the isle.

This was a challenging shoot. The lighting throughout the whole day was horible. The lighting in the church was simple can lights that produced a LOT of shadows on peoples faces. At the reception, the variances in the lighting inside made for difficult work without a flash. However, with a flash the images lost all of their natural color. The only way to get any decent photographs without a flash was too up the ISO to 1600. Maybe someday I’ll be able to get a lens with a larger aperature to let in more light!

This is the first in my *Project 365 – 2010* series of a photograph a day for the entire year.

Our pet dog loves to drink the milk leftover from the bowl of cereal. It is quite the sight to see. As soon as you sit down, she knows what’s in the bowl and immediately comes up and can’t wait.
