When you live out in the country, you have to deal with the wildlife. On a regular basis we are visited by a black bear that takes a liking to our trash. Who knew that trash could result in a photograph?!

This is the most intense drummer that I have seen. This shot came out interesting with the effects lighting reflecting off of the shield in front of the drum kit.

This was the first SLR camera that I owned and the camera started it all. It was originally owned by my mother and her photography work with it got me started.

The latest edition to our family is a little three month old kitten. He was found by some firefighters tucked up into their firetruck. They gave him to our vet where we got him. He is a little sweetheart. He has taken a liking to my wife and lays down by her whenever possible.

Didn’t get time to post this one last night. My daughter got treated yesterday to a peticure and just had to show it off. Of course, being a photographer, I saw the shot and took it!

Before going on our trip to Disney last month, I had this shot in mind. This one actually took quite long to set up due to the pedestrian traffic at the park. Eventually the circumstances lined up and I was able to get the shot. After I got the shot, we went over and had him take our photograph. That’s when I told him about the shot.

So, I was slacking yesterday! Well, not really. Between work and meetings it was a 14+ hour day and I just came home and went to bed. I’ll make up for it this weekend and post an extra photograph for you all.

This one is an example of a perspective shot. This is the lobby at Disney’s Coronado Springs resort. It was taken with the flash off to get the full color and effect that the room brought.

"Project 365" projects are extremely difficult by their very nature. So, I’m going to modify the rules of my project. My project will be to post a different photograph that I have taken every day. I will attempt to get as many daily photographs as possible, but there will be times when the post will contain a photograph from a previous photo shoot.

Today’s photo is another one that was taken last month in Disney. To the untrained eye, this would appear to be a vintage photo taken out west in the wild west era. However, this is what you get when you put together a vintage-looking scene with modern technology. By taking the picture from a moving train with an authentic looking background, then converting it to black and white using Photoshop, the result comes out to look like a vintage photograph.

Today was another day with no creativity. I guess the cold does that to you! Not only was it cold, but with the freeze last night, anything of color that was unprotected died last night.

Since everything is starting to turn brown, I thought of a nice colorful photo that I took last month. One thing you can count on from the folks at Disney, is that it will be colorful!

Once again, we have another cold front approaching. With temperatures once again falling toward the freezing mark in South Florida, we have to be creative on generating heat. So, the candles and oil lamps get lit up.

When I look out my window at the business/condo complex across the street, I see a lot of empty units. This has been this way since they built it 10 years ago. In an attempt to not make it look so desolate, the owner has painted murals over the windows. This is one of them that faces my office.

Today’s experiment was to take my simple point-and-shoot camera and see just what kind of photo I can get with it, with the zoom set all the way out (3x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom).

I had no creativity today in the photography arena. So, you’ll be treated to a photograph I took last month in Disney.

Sometimes you don’t know you got a decent shot until after you view them on the computer screen. I took a series of photographs of the fireworks show at Disney’s Epcot. Reviewing the shots at the end of the show, it looked like they were all throwaway shots. However, once I looked at this one on the computer screen after uploading them, I realized not all was lost.

This shot was taken at the end of the show. As I zoomed out to get as much of the fireworks in the shot, the gentleman standing next to me ended up in the shot. Being out of focus and in a silhouette, it came out as a great artistic shot.

Today’s theme…warmth! This was the site around our house today as we are experiencing our coldest weather of the winter. With freeze warnings for today and the next three mornings, this is unseasonably cold for South Florida. Rather than turn up the heat (and our eletric bills), we “light up” around here … candles, that is!

Project 365 – 2010: Day 2

Yesterday was the wedding of a longtime family friend. I had the pleasure of knowing this young man since high school. Our grandson was tagged to be the ring bearer for the ceremony, and got a little bit bored. I snapped this photograph before he was to go down the isle.

This was a challenging shoot. The lighting throughout the whole day was horible. The lighting in the church was simple can lights that produced a LOT of shadows on peoples faces. At the reception, the variances in the lighting inside made for difficult work without a flash. However, with a flash the images lost all of their natural color. The only way to get any decent photographs without a flash was too up the ISO to 1600. Maybe someday I’ll be able to get a lens with a larger aperature to let in more light!

This is the first in my *Project 365 – 2010* series of a photograph a day for the entire year.

Our pet dog loves to drink the milk leftover from the bowl of cereal. It is quite the sight to see. As soon as you sit down, she knows what’s in the bowl and immediately comes up and can’t wait.
